PERFUSION SYSTEMS FOR
ISOLATED KIDNEY/LIVER/MESENTERIC BED
These systems are designed for the perfusion of isolated kidney, liver and mesenteric bed of small mammals. The artery of the organ is canulated and perfused with a suitable buffer at either constant pressure or constant flow. Constant pressure is maintained by hydrostatic pressure from a buffer column, and changes in flow are measured. Constant flow is maintained by a precision roller pump, and changes in pressure are measured. Effluents can be collected for further biochemical analysis.

The basic apparatus for model IPO-01 P comes with thermostated tissue bath, electronic stimulator, temperature probe, a column for constant pressure up to 120 mm Hg with tap, a roller pump to fill the column, stand, and rack with power supply. Model IPO-01 F-P also has a precision roller pump for constant flow.

The organ chamber features its own water bath and heater. The carbogen supply creates vapor which rises through the stainless steel organ support and surrounds the organ with warm moisture to prevent drying. The organ is not immersed.

The clear lid, which keeps the moisture from escaping, has holes to admit perfusion tubing and stimulator electrode. The standard chamber is 52 mm x 41 mm x 16 mm.
