Experimetria's RSC-04 four-chamber superfusion system is designed for investigation of neurotransmitters released electrically or chemically from brain tissue slices. Released substances can be analyzed biochemically or via scintillation counter after radiolabeling. Interchangeable tissue chambers make the system easy and effective to use. Built-in platinum-iridium electrodes provide homogenous electrical fields. Since temperature is maintained by glass-coil heaters, immersion into a thermostated bath is not necessary. Each unit includes four chambers with holders, four prewarming units with holders, four incubation vials with holders, stand and tubing. |

Experimetria's CWS-04 cortical wedge investigation system (grease-gap method) is a four-channel bath system designed to study spontaneous electrical activity of the cortex with axonal leads in two separate compartments. The slice is placed into a two-compartment chamber so that most of the gray matter is contained in one compartment and the white matter (corpus callosum) in the other. A high-resistance seal is achieved between the two compartments by a Perspex barrier and silicone grease. Surfaces for buffer in- and outflow are made of hydrophobic material to ensure smooth, steady buffer flow, thereby preventing motion artifacts.
| The two compartments are perfused independently with ACSF bubbled with carbogen. A non-polarizing Ag/AgCl electrode is inserted into each compartment and the DC potential difference is amplified and recorded. Perfusion of the gray matter compartment with a stimulant gives rise to a 1-2 millivolt change for 1-2 minutes. Responses to a given agonist are highly reproducible after stabilization. Using a magnesium-free medium, spontaneous depolarization (epileptiform activity) appears. Substances influencing epileptogenesis and those with neuroprotective effects may be investigated. The system includes a four-channel tissue bath (CWC-01) with Ag/AgCl electrodes (AGE-01), a four-channel special extracellular amplifier (EXT1), rack and power supply, and cables. | |||||||||||||||||

Experimetria's BSS-01
tissue bath system is designed for electrophysiological investigations on brain or spinal
cord slice. It is an excellent method for studying synaptic transmission for physiology or
pharmacology. The thermostated chamber is filled with distilled water and bubbled with
carbogen. A covered prechamber directs warm, moisturized gas onto the surface of the
sample to prevent drying and to supply it with oxygen. Surfaces for buffer
in- and outflow are made of hydrophobic material to ensure smooth, steady
buffer flow, thereby preventing motion artifacts. A common sample is a transverse hypocampal slice; the sample is easily accessible for detection of spikes from the pyramidal layer of the CAI region when Schaffer collateral axions are stimulated. The system is suitable for both extra- and intracellular signal measurements, and includes a Haas-type tissue chamber (BSC-01) with built-in thermostation, temperature controller (TC), rack and power supply, and cables. |

The standard bipolar/unipolar head stage for the BSS-01 features standard Clark type adapters for either metal or glass electrodes (electrodes not included). This head stage uses the singel middle electrode for unipolar Intra-cellular applications, or the two outer electrodes for bipolar extra-cellular applications.
